Jelani's journey into music began early, refining his craft as a DJ and producer before graduating from Richland Northeast High School (Columbia, SC) in 1987. Furthering his expertise, he attended Stratford College of Art (Hilton Head Island, SC) and later The Atlanta College of Art, specializing in media arts. His time in Atlanta led to a production deal with Mass Appeal Records and the founding of Militant Music Productions, a company that would later evolve into Militant Muzic Group (2006).
His strategic vision led to the co-founding of Quantum Beats Recording Studio, which quickly rose to prominence as an award-winning industry leader in the Carolinas. However, in 2012, Jelani took a bold new direction, launching Studio 23 Music Group, catering to filmmakers and recording artists across all genres.
